The owners of The Loft Hostel are trying something new. Firstly instead of trying to give you the least we can for the most you will pay, we give more than necessary for a smaller price than usual. We recognise the need of visitors to see sights, but we are well aware that you cant see anything if you are not rested. So without taking the focus off tourist information and the fact you are in Budapest, we encourage you to feel as comfortable, lazy and relaxed as possible. Check in/out is so flexible i am afraid it will tie itself into a knot, the rules and regulations are like being at home, and the atmosphere is wonderfully chilled. We still run a tight ship though, but thats our problem, not yours :-)
Having just finished the MASSIVE winter renovation, a total renewal in all areas, we have made our sleeping rooms more cosy and spacious, our beds more comfortable, our kitchen more equipped and our common room is now even more ridiculous. BIG ROOM with HUGE satellite TV with english, spanish, french.... you name it.... channels, shed loads of DVDs for your quiet nights in (and a well stocked beer fridge for the noisy ones), massive wrap around sofa, with board games, free computer internet use and Wi-Fi for you laptoppers, cd writing, colour printing, photocopying, also washing machines, free beverages (coffee, good fruity teas, specially imported english tea for you brits (occasionally chocolate hob nobs also), hot chocolate, and cocoa), free locker usage for your piece of mind, bike rental, no curfew, shed loads of tours on offer (just ask, and we will organise), budget transport info to your next destination, and all the other usual tourist info stuff. PLUS, make good use of our new guest kitchen, where you can sit back and relax in the open plan dining room while your best mate makes you pasta and tomato sauce. AGAIN.
.. and thats only the stuff inside. Just seconds away from our cheery doorstep is the whole of Budapest. We deliberately settled in the most downtown position we could so you dont ever have to be too far away from the comfy couch nor the sights. If Budapest were a body, with Heroes square the brain, Andrassy Utca the spine, the 8th district the sweaty groin, Citadella and Castle district the two bodily mounds, Vaci Utca the over used and clogged pulmonary artery etc..... we would be in the heart of this metaphorical body - that never stops pulsating and throbbing with life and soul, where love originates, and where connections will always stay. If you prefer to think of things literally, then we are just 30 metres from the main tourist jaunt, Vaci Utca, where there are many many many restaurants and shops, and a stones throw from the huge market hall where you can grab a quick pastry in the morning, a big cheapy goulash in the afternoon, and all your token souvenirs 10 minutes before your plane leaves. The green liberty bridge is right next to the market, leading to the world famous Gellert thermal baths and the lovely walk to the top of the Citadella where there are panoramic views a plenty. If you walked half the distance you just threw your stone, you could have been sitting on the Danube banks, drinking a fresh beer or soft drink (what ever floats your boat) whilst the mighty Citadella looms over you, and sun sets behind the Buda Castle just to your right.
There are of course sights to be seen further afield, but with our nearby public transport connections (trams, busses, trolley busses, metros) and our extremely knowledgable staff, that will be a breeze. But one reason that Budapest is a great city to see, is that walking around here makes you feel like you are somewhere that really lives, not just pretends to live for the tourists.
Last but not at all least, if you are night time sort of person, then our situation near to the major out door clubs of the summer, and cool underground clubs of the winter will put an intoxicated smile on your face. Our staff are up to date with whats hot and whats not. And if you like some obscure kind of music, we will endeavour to find an obscure club suitable for you.
That's all folks, we really hope to see you soon.
